Re: replacing bushings, what do i need?

what will you need? hehe... first of all, something that gives you torque down info for all hte bolts you'll be removing

for all of these you WILL need the following sockets (in some cases, long sockets): 12, 14, 15, 17, and sometimes 19 mm

for front lower contorl arms:

1. propane torch
2. vice
3. hacksaw
4. shart knife
5. 17 and 19 mm socket, and another 19mm socket to hold the other side of the bolt. 3/4" drive works too, same measurement
6. 14 mm socket and an open ended 14mm wrench
7. 12 mm socket and open ended wrench

for rear A arms:

1. propane torch
2. hacksaw for small spindle bushings
3. rubber mallet
4. 27mm socket
5. either a spindle removal tool, or a thin extension socket back about 6" long and a rubber mallet anda hammer

for moustache bar-

-propane torch
-17mm socket

for steering rack:

-patience
-large vocabulary of profanity
-12 or 14mm sockets
-more profanity

that's all i can think of right now off top of my head, see attachment for what you have to remove to get the front bushings in properly.

depends on whether your engine is out of the car or not. If it is, steering rack bushings are a cinch. If the block's still there, you'll spend about an hour putting them in because you only have about 1" of clearance for the steering rack. Also, keep in mind that the bushings are shaped in a certain way, put them in EXACTLY as your stock bushings sat.

Here's a link to my progress page, so you can see how it's set up.

this is how i removed mustache bar bushings

DO NOT remove that rib eye inner piece thingy the rubber is held to after you burn the bushing out. Leave it in there, bushings go through it.
