Replacement seats? CRX?
Just wondering how many people out there have done replacement seats, and which kind have given you the best results. I am looking at a pair of CRX seats that might be Recaro's, but it is that style, off a 90's honda. Are there a lot of mods, if any? What seats do you recommend? Remember, college kid (little cash), and in the midwest (not as many imports).

I put those recaro crx seats in my 240Z. They worked out great and you can get them fairly cheap. I used the stock rails and made adapter plates to mount it to the seats. They sit a little bit higher than stock but it's not bad.

veyenyl,
Thanks for the reply. What kind of plates did you use? Can you send a pic of the rails and how the seats look in your ride? How tall are you? I'm not an ogre, but my head is like 3 or 4 inches away from the top.

The adapter plates I made are very similar to the ones in this write up

The crx seats are slighly different but the adapters work the same way. I'm about 5'8" and there is plenty of clearance for my head. I'll take a picture later and post it.

Pretty to do that, if you don't mind me asking? Also, 1st gen MR2? What years would that be? I'm thinking of some MR2 seats too, leather ones, from a 93 turbo.
What do you think?
Thanks for everyone's help and advice.

Took me and a friend about 5hours to put them in. Had to cut off the stock brackets, measure, weld new brackets made from scratch, drill new holes in the Z rails, and put them in.
If we had to do it again, we could do it in a couple of hourse probably. The 1st gen mr2 is 84-89, the driver's seat has all adjustable headrest, lumbar, thigh support and side bolster support, and the seats are 20lbs each. I paid $50 for the pair at a junkyard, and $15 worth materials

Seats to use
I have found that a set of Miata seats go in with very little hassle. i have a set in my 78Z. They are very supportive, and I have a broken back with Titanium rods and a steal cage screwed in place. These seats I can do 500 mile drive and have very little back discomfort. In corners they hold you in place so you can drive harder and not slide around in you seat. I got my pair for $100.00 out of a junk yard. The on;y down fall I can forsee is the size of the driver. If you are on the big size, then the side bolsters could be a problem.[FONT=arial]

Seats
Yes they do have 2 little speakers in the haedrest. I havent hooked mine up yet. ( waiting for new stereo). but the comfort level is amazing. I live in pocatello Id. And I drove to Las Vegas In my 280Z and I was so comfy. When I hit the Virgin river Gorge I sinched up the old belts and opened up the throttle. The seats have extremely good lateral support. I was doing around 100 -110mph, ( according to Speedo) all the way thru and never had to re-adjust my position. Now I know why Miatas do so well autocrossing.
