p90a head
 
how much power can the p90a head handle. will it be ok for say....300hp range? just wondering cuz i may buy one from a friend and i plan to build 300hp. i just wanna be conservative. daily driven/weekend warrior. rumors about p90a breaking at high rpm's??? thanks in advance

There generally seems to be a misconception about running high RPMs on a turbo motor. When thinking about a turbo motor, most conventional thinking goes out the window. Where an N/A engine benefits from high RPMs and a camshaft that will open the valves wider and longer to get a larger intake charge volume, the turbo engine requires neither. The turbo itself does the job of forcing more air into the engine without the need for winding the engine up. Most turbo drivers know that they are being pushed back into the seat by 2800RPMs and there is little need to push the L28T pass 6000RPMs.

Having said that, IMO, a P90a is just fine for a 300hp turbo motor if the lifters are in good shape.

I believe the big "problem" with the P90a was the cost of replacing the hydraulic lifters if needed. Something outrageous like $50 each, and you need 12. (don't quote me, but they were expensive)

Well, if you are interested I have a spare P90A head laying around that I've done very mild sanding on the ports to rid of some of the over casting. Let me know if you're interested.
