New Z owner with questions

HI, I just recieved my Z I purchased off of Ebay. I was wondering what elseI have to swap besides the tranny to get a 5spd in it. I also am wondering if vapor lock is a problem I am having. The car in traffic started cutting out on me. I was able to get it off the road and it quit. It did start right back up. This has a header on it. I am going to install an aluminum radiator and a flex a lite electric fan to help out with the Florida heat. I also wanted some advice on the after market A/C units. Are they really worth the money.
My car is a 72 240Z with a 280 motor and a stock 4spd.
Thank you in advance
Rob

The trans swap should be a direct bolt in deal.

As for the vapor lock, does your engine still have carbs, if so make sure the heat shielding insulation is still covering the fuel lines around the valve cover. It will make a difference.

good luck, i hope this helps

most aftermarket ac units I have seen aren't that good. vapor lock is a possibility but the electric fan and alluminum radiator probably wont help much. if vapor lock is deinately the problem and you can't get it fixed with heat shields spend some money on a good aftermaket fuel pump that puts out about 4-7 lbs

I was going to do the same swap, but its a lot more difficult than you think.
You would need a clutch/brake pedal assy. for the interior and a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, as well as all the hydraulic piping for same. You may also need to modify the console for the manual shifter. The flywheel is different also.Acquire a throwout bearing collar to match the clutch you buy. Remember to remove the automatic bushing in the end of the crankshaft, and replace it with a spigot bearing. Jump out the neutral safety switch. Acquire the manual flex plate. Fabricate a clutch pedal stop. The radiator is different.
So, its a lot more extensive than one would originally believe.
