Re: N42 Head
The N-42 head was used (In the States anyway) on the 1975/76 280Z. It was marked "N-42" between #1&2 plug holes. It had combustion chambers that were almost the same in cc's to the early E-88, but was designed for use with dished pistons. It was drilled and tapped for both the injection manifold and the carb manifold, and had provisions for a mechanical fuel pump. put this head on a flat-top 2.8L block and you will get CR's in the high nines, and a bad tendancy to detonate. Tha "flatness" of the combustion chamber design allows the flame front to spead out thus creating detonation. it can make tons of power using high test gas w/ octane boosters and a proper timing advance...ie go to a dyno and play with it, but I would not suggest its use on a motor with flat-top pistons for the average joe. Just my two bits.
