My Z took a crap
The head gasket went south this past week. I pulled the head today and discovered some suprises, the gasket was leaking between cylinders 3 & 4, it was also leaking coolant into the cylinders as well as combustion chamber gasses into the coolant system blowing both radiator hoses. Also since it's been running extremely rich because of a faulty coolant temp switch, the pistons were really carboned up, as were the plugs. The constant backfiring in the intake started to burn up my exhaust valves( they were white). I think the head might also be a tad warped. Luckily though, The machinist I always use is really good at straightening aluminum heads. And since I just got a new job that pays alot better than my last job I can afford to get the head work done including new valves, and do some much needed upgades. So this is actually a good thing, the Z will be running alot better than it has been in a long time, just in time for the National Convention. I can't wait!
