my new bumper

i have a early 260 that had the thin bumper......i wanted the rebel bumperless look...well i ended up trading both my front and rear for a set of euro led tail lights. so i was happy till the open mouth just got to me. i found a bumper from a friends parts car. needless to say this thing has some rust.

pretty ugly huh...well since my teacher is letting us work on our own stuff at the end of the semister and next semister i thought hell why not. so i took it out and sandblasted it front and back

cut the ugly spots out

as well as man handle the bent it had

made templates for the holes and started welding. these where just tack welds bc i welded it all up on the bad side. also welded up the bolt holes

grind down the welds and 36 grit the whole thing. smoothed it all out.

shot some primer on it. i plan to paint the bumper the color of my car (kick a$$ silver) when i bring it up to paint. but i need to take it back home and make some brackets but that wont be anything. just thought it was fun to do at school. if u look in the back ground a 63 impala has been taking most of my time >_< just a boat on wheels. just thought i would rant. shows you their is beauty in something ugly.....to bad that does not go for everything ugly
