lose the carbs!
Anybody out there with Holley Projection on a 4BBL manifold? Thinking about trying the 400cfm kit on my 240. I'm waiting for a reply from Holley as to what all I need. They say you can program it for low and mid-range plus choke. If it works, maybe will add nitrous later on. Any opinons?

heh, Holly's are cool, but the only thing is. when you pop the hood, the 4bbl intake with holly on top, doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as the dual Hitachi's. But let me know how it works for ya (and the full price tag). cuz my SU's have been acting up and im looking for a nice simple solution.

to me z with out dual or tripple carbs is not a z anymore it just looses all it's cool.Holley's are for muscle and mopars and i am glad when i can blow them off with my little 6cylinder so to me 240z w/o dual or tripple carbs is like a 240z w/o the laetter "z"
its just my opinion thou |
carb, schmarbs who cares
You're both right! When I see a Z with a V8 I think of the same thing. But you have a lot of reliable HP. If I do it I might make my own manifold and mount the Holley for side draft. I don't like the way the after market ones breath. If done side draft style I can make equal length tubes. I still don't have an answer from Holley.

We had a pretty good discussion a while back about this, it was titled:
"if u can hook a turbo up to tripple webers", last posted on 4/29 |
that was my thread but i was on a different name

Expensive HP
I like the idea of the turbo blowing into the Mukunis. Tuning would be a nightmare for a street machine without an ECU. Multi carbs is what I want to avoid. I've also been thinking that a supercharger mounted on the left side blowing forward through an intercooler and back to a stock fuel injection manifold and into an F.I. head on a low compression turbo engine would be something different too. Again, it would require an after market computer possibly custom made. Right after I win the lottery.

HA HA very funy
|
actually my friend has this setup in his 240 and he has no problems with it oh yeah an i hope you know that www.jimcookracing.com has a supercharger for z too itc omes with a 400 holley carb and all the hardware might wanna check it out
|
I checked it out about a month ago. I spoke to Cooks wife, she said they use the Holley Projection on it but it is very exspensive.
About $1500 for the carb kit and $2800 for the blower kit. Since I work in a modern machine shop I'm exploring other ways. How much HP does your friend get out of that set up? |
my friend has the mikuni tripple weber setup not the supercharger and from those tubocharged mikuni a cam a hig volume fuel pump he gets out about 380 BHP
|
Wow!!! I'm impressed! I bet it looks great too. I would like to find out what all it took to get it there. Can you hook me up with this guy?
|
well he might even b on this forum he has the setup for sale without the mikunis so you would have to find them but let me check with him for his name on this forum
|
I seriously doubt the car gets 380hp when the electromotive engines we put in our GT-2 car and the one we made for our GTU car topped out at 300hp.
|
well thats what he said and the car wwas really quick
|
and by theway the factory says that with on other customization of the engine you will pull at least 300 horses now i am not talking about the power to the wheel i am talkin the power of the engine
|
oh, the factory says that. I think even what the factory claims a 350Z gets at the flywheel is a bit of an exageration. I'm sure it is a fast car, but it would be cool to see a dyno sheet of it or maybe even let us know if he has run some 1/4 mile times.
I've seen some pretty serious turbo L6 engines on a dyno and they get 300-350hp at the wheels. That is with fuel injection. I've also seen, on the same day, a slightly modified 300ZX twin turbo put down 280hp. :p |
