licking my wounds

It has been awhile but I had my valves misaligned when I replaced the timing chain and so the valves are history. I have another head which I will take apart and refurbish. Within the next few days I will wire wheel the entire engine bay and block and head. Than I will primer it and put fresh paint to spruce her up and start reassembling the engine. It would be nice if someone out there has a used set of headers for a E88 squiare port head before I put it together. All of the pistons were hit by the valves and the only good thing about the mess is that we never got out on the street. I am determined to put this car back on the road. If I can't locate any headers than I will yank the tubes out of the exhaust manifold and plug the holes. This 260z 2+2 has spent more time in the garage than on the street. There is a lot of carbon on the top of the pistons so that will get cleaned off. Will let you know when we are ready to fire her up and maybe post it on the forum. Thanks

To be sure that I haven't mistaken the valve timing procedure on chains, gears, or belts I always turn the engine over by hand before I start it. On one occasion I installed an aftermarket timing belt that a customer gave me that had the wrong number of teeth. It took some head scratching to figure that one out.
Good Luck,
