Leaking su carbs

My 72 240 had su carbs , on the top of the carbs there are two hoses coming out one is from the fuel rail and the other goes to the factory aircleaner . When I try and start the car fuel pours from the rear carb where the hose goes into the aircleaner I have tried to insert a pic . not sure if it worked. These are the only to fuel style lines from the top of the carbs . And only the one closest to the fire wall is doing this . As a bit of info the car hasn't been ran in about two years , I just replaced all of the ingition and starter < thanks to all who helped with that issue> and does have the smog pump hooked up <which I want to remove with all that crap > Please any helps thanks Jeff

leak

It appears that the piston may be stuck in the up position causing an over flow problem. Stick your finger in the opening and feel for the piston...it should be down, closing off the opening. If it is sticking, do 2 things 1. Use carb cleaner to free it up. 2. Make sure you have oil (20 wt) in the damper. (Unscrew the black knob on the top of the dome -it is the dipstick).
Hope this helps.

the piston moves freely not overly but moves up when i stick my finger in there and raise and release it , how do you check the floats?

The float valve Is probably stuck, tap on the top of the float body with a screwdriver not too hard & It may release & seal off.

I have freed the float valve but still don't seem to be getting gas for the carbs, any feedback on bv rebuild kits for su"s are they ok or is ztherapy worth the 125 diffrence

rebuild

The rebuild kits are just fine...it's a matter of your abilities. Ztherapy does a lot more than the average garage mechanic would and they guarantee the work. It would be your call.
