Re: L28 n/a or turbo
ditto on what bleachzee said. if your looking for 250hp or more, go for the turbo swap. i have a built N/A motor dynoed at 200HP at the wheels and took a lot of money to do it. fortunatley i had friends who worked at shops and did all the machine work. to get an idea of what i did ill sum up some of what i have: e31 head port and polished, nismo valve springs and, hks mild cam, 6-1 headers, dual SU's, hks flywheel, heat treated block, titanium sleeved, nismo dished pistons, knife edge, shot peened, counter-balance crank, balanced and blueprinted, N36 intakes, euro distributor and hi-6 crane ignition. thats roughly what i have built 6 years ago and still running strong. i paid half the cost of it would be if i paid full price, i got lucky to find friends to do a lot of the work cheap. i think building a stout N/A motor and reliable turbo motor is about the same. right now im in process of building my turbo motor so i have to get thinking of selling my parts im removing. if your interested just go ahead and email me, most likely im getting rid of the carbs with K&N filters w/N36 intakes, 6-1 headers, elec. fuel pump for carbs, and maybe the head, if the price is right...the head is like brand new...the car revved up to 10,000 rpms and did not blow...i thinked the valve springs helped a lot to keeping the motor from blowing. ill be selling my parts after the turbo engine is done. whatever you choose, you'll have fun building the car...take it easy...check out my website sometime.

Re: L28 n/a or turbo
I am also considering doing the turbo swap or a total performance build on my engine. I currently have an e31 with n42 block, headers, and 3" exhaust. I just put in an r180 3.9 differential and suspension (shocks, springs, and energy suspension bushings). The car is pretty quick, but I want more. I bought a p90 head and thought I'd follow Brian Little's advice and do the 5 way valve job and shave it 0.080 for the 10:1 compression. I know my current setup with flat tops does 10.5-8, but the p90 is supposedly the best breathing head. I think this would be a much more reliable setup. I really want to go turbo but the concept is frightening. I look at guys like scottie with awe his car in both stages L and GN was most impressive, but reading through his site, most expensive. It is fortunate that he is a good mechanic or I feel he'd be in the poor house. Is it possible to have an L28 turbo that is reliable and still pushing 300-350 hp?

Re: L28 n/a or turbo
I am putting a 280 T in a 260
Intercooler will help - I just have the Saab 9000
boost will be about 10-12 3.70 gears. SDS ignition, 60 mm Throttle body - hoping for 240 RWHP. Stock injectors (260 cc. Mercedes has 500 cc/min these are low impedence too like the Datsun. most are High impedence. )and turbo. - Rebuilt everything. Note of advice. If you go for a bigger turbo and injectors then I think that you should do the pistons and rods too and this is a lot of dough. I would rather spend it on handling. Z28 power in a car that is 800 pounds lighter is enough for me. However If you want more then I would go with a V8 instead as the HP gains are cheaper and easier. I just wanted to be a bit different and have all Datsun stuff.
Lots of handling goodies and Brakes that will stop a Train. 17 " rims not purchased yet.
I have a few questions. I will post elsewhere too.
1. Can a 240 dash - 72 plug into a 73 260 wiring harness?
My 240 dash is mint.
2. for the Power Steering swap at the Backyard Z garage (netdojo - guy - no name) he said that he used a 95 mustang rack. The wreckers said that the Auto is different than the Standard and I wanted to know which to get.
Thanks Mark
