Re: just a question....
That question didn't really make sense... Why woildn't you be able to do burnouts with new brakes?

Re: just a question....
do you have stick? this is what i do.
I put the stick in neutral. i rev to 5k rpm. i let off the clutch REALLY fast and immediatly hit the brake and press as hard as i can. the back wheels should spin regardless of the brakes being applied. it makes for a good burnout pic if you have a camera ready and waiting. Re: just a question....
Oh, I get it, you meant holding the brakes down while doing a burnout- Wouldn't this stuff the brakes. Get a line lock, so only the front brakes are applied- this makes good burnouts.

Re: just a question....
hehe tru, i thought that when i tried to rip a good one, that it was my new rear brakes sticking, but then it was the clutch not disengaging..
get some pics of it, don't waste tyres without pics.. or VIDEO 76 260z The NiteRider |

hail king burnout (not the weed kind)

Re: just a question....
get retreads... Its pretty coll after a long burnout when the retread rips of the tire and goes flying away. Burnouts are cool in all cars except my own (I can't do it to my baby)

Re: just a question....
install a brake proportioning valve, switch to 100% front, 0% rear, floor it in neutral to 4k, semi-drop clutch.
although burnouts are a waste of tire and cops don't like them very much :) |
Re: just a question....
i need new tires anyways thats why i wanna do it im gettin some new ones

Re: just a question....
hehe, my friends at work were doubting my stock (but fresh engine) 23 year-old Datsun...
I put it up at 4,500 rpm and popped the clutch and as soon as I felt that I was going to get traction (engine losing rpms and car starting to move more) I cranked the wheel as far as I could without letting go of grip of the wheel and swung the car around.... then the engine went back up around to redline.. and did the same to the right... In the convertible you end up surrounded by smoke like that! Never again was my Datsun's patch-laying ability doubted.. it was described as one co-worker as "incredible!".... said he felt like he was at the drags cuz it was so loud lol... that was before I replaced the hollow catalytic converter and broken muffer (it was LOUD) Those marks are still there and I don't hear any more crap about driving a Datsun anymore! -Steve http://www.geocities.com/stev240z |

Re: just a question....
I think I'm going to put the front of the 280Z up against a building and put it in 1st and dump the clutch at 4,500 rpm.... no need for powerbraking there! I think it will work better cuz you're not #$@()#@$ing up the rear brakes... and with those big crash bumpers... hmm...
I remember my old 280z busted a rear brake hose and for like 3 weeks I was driving with front brakes only and MAN the powerbraking I could do was gnarley!!!!!!!! I remember a guy driving by me doing that in a muscle car gave me his sign of approval.. I think it was a Bel Air or something..... I'm gonna be putting new tires soon on the 280Z, so I'll figure out some way to do a spectacular burnout for you guys. Dave Carey wants burnout pics on his website.. I think I'll donate a pic of whatever I do to him. -Steve http://www.geocities.com/stev240z |
Re: just a question....
I totaly respect other Zed's and the people who drive them. And if there were no 240z's I'd definitely be driving another type of Zed
