Just bought a 72'...Could really use some advice...

Ok I picked up a 72 with an L28/P79 engine. (You could only imagine the joy I felt when I found that out!!!) Anyway, I had a mechanic look it over and he says it looks like someone has given it a little TLC already. But before I take it for a nice hard drive I think I need to put in some work, mainly bushings.(Energy Susp. master kit & front susp. rebuild kit from Suspension.com) Is this the right 1st step in a restore project?

If so, should I go ahead an upgrade my front sway bar? I was looking for the stock diameter but can't get a def. answer. Seems like it's anywhere from 16-20mm. Anyone know for sure? I thought I might as well upgrade so I'll know for sure. Any suggestions on a good brand without breaking the bank? I want to do this so I can drive it a bit before I commit to the actual restore process.

Also, I was thinking on buying a Uni-Syn by Edelbrock. Any recommendations on that? Edelbrock part #4025, is this the right 1?
Please feel free to leave any comments or advice for me as this is my first build, first Z, first time posting. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thnx.

I don't know how you could possibly balance your carbs accurately
without a UniSyn, unless there is another similar tool that I don't
know about. I've had mine for 40 years, and consider it foolproof.
Which is what it would have to be for my degree of (in)expertise!

Find a local Z club or garage to help you through the build. I wouldn't go with a larger front swaybar, as they usually crack the mounts on first gen Z's...unless you want to reinforce the mounts. Just going with better bushings, springs & shocks first. Here's a thread about it.

I used the "Energy Suspension" kit on my 70 Z and love it. Don't forget to use the blue marine grease on their pivot pts or they'll squeak. Also, shop the web for your kit and you'll find a deal.
