i currently own a 76 280z and am in kind of a pickle.. my parents want to rebuild/restore my torque monster but are strapped for cash. i was wondering how much a complete re-do of the car would cost, like paint job, interior, tires/rims, engine? all help will be appreciated.

Engine rebuild if you send it out most likely $3000 - $3500. Paint depends on how much you want to spend lots of different prices for that. $99 Earl Shive to $10,000 primo jobs. Your choice. get the engine work done and work from there.

 

you can a race motor for that much $3000 AUD is way to crazy !!!... unless you are replacing everysingle component with new stuff then it might come a little closer but you could have all sorts of work done to the motor as well for that money

Luckily I am doing the same thing to my 78Z. I have done mostly trading for work. My paint job cost me $100 for the paint and a 1986 F250 for the body work. My engine cost me a P4 computer, plus I have to buy the parts. I figure the parts are gonna be around $2000. I found a set of rims for $400 Tires are $135 a piece. Add $500 for ground effects and about $1000 for the interior, $1200 for the suspension. I will have a 270BHP Road Racing Z with a completely new interior. I may save some money with some sponsorships I am working on.
REmember this is my project you could probably do yours for less or more dependng on what you want.

well, i was planning to swap in a supra TT motor, but havent had much success w/ that. if any of you guys spot one, could you leave a message, thats pretty much what ive been having trouble w/. thanks

You were planning to swap it with a what!!?? If i recall the supra tt's mother is a 2jz gte with 320hp which way to big for what you can fit in that. I might go for a 88 Supra single turbo which is a good 260. Oh and the engine of the i think its the MKII is a 1jzgte

 

from i recall, almost any type of engine could fit in the engine bay of a 280z, w/ a lil shaving here and there. the plethora of space in the engine bay could easily fit a v-10 viper engine, why not put a twin-turbo engine in it, just for kicks.

1jz and 2jz are almost exactly the same size ....... and how do you know how he drives ... it sure isn't the first zed car with 320hp ... mines going to be 600hp+ hopefully ... next year .... *sigh* ...

oh these people will be sorry hahaha, and can anyone tell which one of your z friends has a viper engine in their z's *cough* none and a Supra engine *cough* none. Hopefully next year when you get your raise of 25 cents of course.

 

ive seen and talked to the owner of a 260Z with a 610 hp RB26DETT, there is a 240Z with a 5.9L cheavy in it, darius has 600hp @ the wheels with a cheavy LS1 and blower, i have a friend which has an RB30ET 240Z with close to 300hp @ the fly (see attachment), another zed i have talked to the owner of at my local zed shop with 200rwkw RB30ET in a 260Z (australian dyno) and a VG30DET in a 260Z 2+2 (australian dyno) and one that has an RB20DET with around 250hp at the wheels (australian dyno), i have another friend kalium, that has a 1jz that he is putting in his 260Z at the moment that will have over 300hp @ the fly wheel....... none hey ?
