How to install kill switch?
I want to install a kill switch to my coil and need all the help possible. Specifically, where and how to hook up a switch. I was thinking I could just splice the switch into the positive cable on the coil but I'm an electrical idiot. I'd appreciate any suggestions. TIA.

Re: How to install kill switch?
well, yeah splicing into the positive coil would work, also may I add that splicing into the positive line going to your electric fuel pump (if you have one) is a GREAT idea IMO.. I had a switch for the electric pump on my '78, so someone could start it and then it would die, making the thief thinking something was wrong with the car, or at least throwing him off... that same thief could just run a wire from positive batt to the coil much more easier then running one under the car to the fuel pump... check out this website if you want to be REALLY sophisticated about it!!! (I REEEAAALLLY WANT TO DO THIS!!!)

Re: How to install kill switch?
Try staying away from the coil---------It is a great idea, but as much electrical draw comes in and out of that wire the kill switch could cause havoc on it normal functionality---plus the switch would probably burn itself out regulary----The other suggestion as to the fuel pump is a great ideal-----so is the battery, starter solenoid and the main line going to the ignition switch
Good luck |
