headlight covers...-how to?

I got a set of the clear headlight covers. is there a way to install them w/o drilling?
Thanks

You would need o clean the headlight cone really good then yu can use the sticky pads. I will worn you this only works if you get this covers on exactly right and your cones match perfectly. Otherwise the covers have to much torque and pull away. I had to drill mine.

scottymizt and i drilled ours too. as much as we both hated to do it, it seemed like the best choice. the sticky is sticky but did not want to run the chance of the adhesive giving at speed and having a cover go flying off. just make sure you mock them up before you do the drilling so you dont put a hole where it is not needed.

Damn, Oh well.
Guess I'll drill. Thanks for the feedback guys.

no prob..Nice Z, btw.
I think I paid $50-60 for them. they come with rubber weather stipping and all the hardware

datsunfreak 08-31-2003 07:53 PM

Cool. That's a good price. I assume they are Lexan, not glass? :p

Yes, that's a very nice Z, but it's not mine. :(

Mine's getting ready for paint right now and so I just used a photo I had on my computer to make that. ;)

i just installed the headlight covers on my Z this past weekend. turned out pretty sweet. for the weather stripping you have to cut it so it fits. but, after a while it tends to shrink a little and leaves a gap in the stripping. so i just took some super glue and glued the two ends together. it worked out pretty well. washed it yesterday and no leaks. i was impressed. i also have some left over paint from when we painted the car, so i painted the aluminum brackets so they match the buckets. virtually invisible !!! you can get covers from www.zcarparts.com for like 50 bucks or so. i got the sale ad in the mail and they were like 46 something.
