Did you read through our "HEADERS EXPLAINED" thread ( https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-280zxt-s30-s130-tech-tips-275/headers-explained-part-1-a-17672/ )? It really does explain a lot... along w/ other mods, they help the motor breathe / flow better than the stock cast iron manifold.

Stock exhaust manifold:

Header:

yes i did read but what i don't get is that it is still six holes going from the engine to the exhaust and if it's worth it on an s30

headers make the cylinders all equidistant from the exhaust exit point, and flow better than the stock manifold.

you can put it on later, but it would be easier to do it all at once

Six holes???? Those are the exhaust ports for each cylinder... it's a 6 cylinder motor... 1 intake 1 exhaust for each cylinder... 6 x 1 = 6. And it doesn't matter if it's an S30 or S130... what matters is what you are doing to the actual motor.

I put a 6-2-1 header from MSA on my 240 and it made a big difference in performance and makes a nice sound. I added a SuperTrap muffler on it because you can adjust the back pressure by adding or removing the baffle discs. You can remove all of them for straight through flow for top end but it's really loud. 2 1/2 '' all the way back. The header comes very close to #3 intake so plan on using header wrap on all the tubes at least 12" long.

Oh yeah, lose the stock air cleaner and get the bonnet type x 2. Now you can back out the thumb screws on the bottom of the carbs about 1/4 turn. More air, more fuel!
