Great Evening for Cruising

I was working on the Z this afternoon, fixing my driver's side lock solonoid, which hasn't been working for a couple of weeks, making my life painful. It started to cool down, and the sky was looking very cool at sunset, so when I got the door panel back on i decided to roll the windows down and go for a cruise on the highway. Just a half an hour, cool air blowing in, the stereo isn't in the car yet so I just had the hum of the exhaust (and my extra-loud-God-forsaken electric fuel pump) making music.

It was awesome. Hope somebody else was out enjoying their car this weekend also. Just had to share.

On a related note, I took the Z for a drive on Friday as well, and went to visit a local guy who is famous for his crazy Z engine setups. His name is Hoover Chan, and he has a shop in Livermore that does a lot of custom work, including various exotics. That's cool, but his Z's are the most impressive to me. Here is a pic of his turbo Z engine, all custom induction work from his company's web site:

But this is the one I like. It is another 240z with a Rebello 3.2L stroker and a crazy fuel-injected throttle body setup. I am considering buying this motor minus the induction stuff, which I can't afford. Very cool though.

I can only imagine my car with that motor. I called the Rebello guys after seeing the motor, and plan to go and talk to them about it next week. Dave Rebello said that motor will make 300HP easy, depending on how you address fuel delivery.

I talked to my mother, who lives in Rocky Mount, VA, and it didn't sound like cruising weather there either. It was gorgeous again to day here in the Bay Area. Went out on several short jaunts. Great Z weather right now.
