My car sounds soooo good : ) I got 274deg cam too so it really thumps. I have people even the mechanics come and ask if it's 350 or 302. I got my muffler tucked pretty good also have the car lowered so you can't see my muffler. It's leveled with the frame rail.

Re: Flowmasters?
flowmaster is like $60. you can get them cheaper I think. local muffler shop should charge you about $150 for new pipes. I did my own so it was like $20 for flange. I don't think there was much HP gain, but the engine rev smoother.
Re: Flowmasters?
check out this muffler. they guarantee to outflow dynomx 17734 [app for z's] and flowmstr 42553. t-304 16gauge stainless, lifetime warranty and inexpensive as well [no i don't work 4 them]. anyone else used this brand?

Re: Flowmasters?
I've done alot of research on exhaust in choosing the best set up for my z. I'm currently running around 200hp to the rear wheels with my high compression 2.8L z motor. I'm going with Borla on my z mated up to 2.5 inch pipes. You see, Flowmaster is a baffle style muffler. These baffle mufflers rely on restrictive metal baffles to deaden the sound as opposed to a Borla style muffler. Borla muffler's have a straight through, perforated interior design, and rely on ceramic coated fiberglass to deaden the sound. These mufflers allow maximum flow with minimum pipe size. This max flow is the very definition of "backpressure" or the "scavaging effect". It is the velocity of the exhaust pulses through the system that aid in "scavaging" or extracting exhaust from the cylinders during the exhaust stroke. I spent alot of time on the phone speaking with a Borla representative who owns a z and showcases it every year during the Motorsport Auto Show and it is becomming more widely known that flowmaster is not the best performance muffler contrary to popular belief. Borla has a million mile warranty which is great. So, though the Flowmaster is a great sounding muffler, it does not perform as well as others.

Re: Flowmasters?
Depending on the set up you have, a Borla can be loud. You can run a pre muffler and a final muffler to keep it quieter so you won't having those stuffy ears or you can go with a single multi-core muffler which tends to be quieter when cruising then screamin when you get on it. If louder is what you want though, you can choose from many of their straight through designs. It just depends, they have a lot of different mufflers with lots of different sound characteristics. Call and tell them exactly what you want, and they will help you find what's best for you.
