False indication ?

Hi when ever I accelerate moderate to hard in my 280zx turbo 83´ the red indicator light for the handbrake is lit after 2 sec of acceleration?? Is this a feature I´m not aware of ( I don´t have the manual!) or is it as I asume a loose connection at the rearbrake contact?
Thanx in advance
Dan

You have so much power in your turbo Z that the car is getting scared and is begging you to "brake!"

Or you are low on brake fluid and the acceleration is pulling the fluid to the rear of your resivour and casing the sensor at the front of the reivour to warn you that the level is too low.

well bleachzee your damn right! My brakefluid level was just low enough to cause the indication! Thanx alot ! Still I think it screams for help because of the HUGE amount of power! :-)
BTW do you now which brake fluid I should use? which DOT?
Thanks again
Dan

I just use DOT 3 in all my cars because that is the most common. Other types of fluid are more expensive and resist boiling at higher temperatures. That is good for road racing when you are on and off your brakes a lot.... or in heavy Seattle traffic! :-)

Just be sure you don't mix traditional with silicone brake fluid, they're immiscible! Of course, that means you need to know who put what in their before you got the car, but you can usually safely assume they've been using whatever the reservoir says to use. Unless you picked up the car from a road racer, many of whom use silicone fluid as Bleach mentioned.
Bleach, you're in Seattle? Fun roads up in the Cascades, and a pretty active Z car scene! I babysat my brother's '78 here in Colorado while he was in NYC (I'm now rebuilding my 78). He just picked up the car and returned to Seattle last fall. He also had some things to say about the traffic there. It's the main reason he's keeping the massive 78 federal bumpers on there :)

...if he likes Zs then tell him he better join the Z-Car Club of Washington! yes, there are many many Datsuns up here of all types. We even have a few Fairlady Roadster owners in the club.
