engine shutters
Hey Z people, I was driving my Z tonite and when I took off from a light, my engine seemed to be missing from 1100 to 1700 RPM really pissed me off cause she never does anything like that. At 1700 it just goes back to normal, runs fine, no missing. It idles fine but if I press hard or light on the pedal it misses then goes good again. I pulled all the plugs cleaned and re-gapped them, made sure all my wires were tight, and it still happened. I don't get it. Did I unhook something by accident, bad gas, bad filter, timing. Everything is good I do regular maintenance. Please help.

Re: engine shutters
replace your spark plugs. Unless you used a sand blaster to clean clear down inside, then they didn't get clean. They might also be beyond cleaning and have an internal problem, making the miss. It is a cheap fix, so give it a shot.

Re: engine shutters
Hey thanks guys, I just bought some new NGK's today and the problem got better. I think I'll try the alchohol too. The gas here in Whidbey Island kinda sucks. I have those glass fuel filters and I pull them off weekly and clean the particals out of them. I never had this problem in CA, or N.M. unless I used Giant gas. Does the alchohol do anything to the way the engine runs or since it's diluted by all ths gas it runs fine. Never used 97% alchohol before.

Miracle alchohol?
May be the alcochol causes some chemical reaction with the water or catalized her evaporation, who knows?Anyway, I have heard this thing from oldschool technicians too.

Re: Miracle alchohol?
water dissolves in alcohol very easily, because of the polarity of both the molecules. This is why it absorbs the water. There is a strong force of attraction between the molecules, so it is difficult to seperate them

Re: 91 isn't for emissions, blame it on gas guzzlers
I think we get the highest of 98 here,
its shell optimax, or mobil 8000 76 260z The NiteRider |

Where in the hell do get 98 from. I'm lucky if my 92 is even clean. I won't run anything less. I miss good clean gas. I don't think they clean there tanks very often. Does anyone know of any good gas stations in WA that have good gas or do they all have crap in them.
