Electric fan shroud or CFM

Hi all,
Although I don't have cooling problems, but I've decided to replace the clutch fan on my z with an electric fan or fans. I'm contemplating the two setups below. Both will install easily, but I'm not sure which option would offer the best cooling. I will mount the fan(s) behind the radiator in a pull configuration. I need a fairly heavy duty setup to pull air through the radiator, condenser and intercooler. Any thoughts or opinions would be helpful.

1.) A single 16 " fan with no shroud but a large 2950CFM capability.

2.) Twin 10 " fans with a shroud that covers 85% of the radiator but only has 1800CFM capability.

Thanks,
John

Re: Electric fan shroud or CFM

Used a single electric fan in pull config with thermostat control on a manual, with a/c, on a new but stock-replacement radiator (nothing special about it). Here in Colorado in the summer, it was up to 105 to 110 F and even in stop/go traffic with the a/c on there was plenty of cooling. This was on a '78, so it has a little better cooling than some earlier systems anyway, but...
The fan was just one of those Permacool things, and it worked great. Gave the car back to my brother, who has been using it in Seattle with great results (hardly a hot location, though). The nice thing about that fan was how you could use the thermostat and/or timer to have the fun run for a bit after you turned the car off. For some turbo setups this is nice because you can set it up with an auxiliary intercooler system to cool your turbo down after you stop the car. Or so I've seen. I've not messed with the turbo part, personally. Good luck.
