coolant LEAK!

i have a leak under the passanger side dash board. i took a look at the problem and cannot see the source. it is not the tubing down there, i did notice that when the mechanism that is controlled by the cold to hot lever for the air system in the car is pulled to cold side it lets out coolant. how can i fix this? if anyone had the smae problem please respond.

Check your heater core. Could be the source of your problem, or maybe some some loose lines. Either way, you might want to address it now before winter gets worse or you'll have a lot more fun replacing floorboards. j/k Yeah, seriously though, I think it's the heater core.

The leak you described is your hot water valve thing. That part can leak and can be replaced. I have not done that yet.
That valve closes off water flow when you turn the lever to cold position and it opens up and allows hot coolant to flow when in the hot position. That is more likely your source, or a loose hose. The heater cores themselves actually last a long time.

I did this once on my '80 2+2. It's not a lot of fun, and I would definitely lay down plenty of towels to catch run off. Should take you about an hour or so, at least thats what it took me, if I remember right.

Itīs the hot water valve thing. I have replaced it, it was no problem but not too much space.
