Coil overs
Anyone have experience with coil overs?
I currently have tokico adjustables with springs and was thinking of switching over to coil overs. I heard my ride will be much more stiffer with the coils? What I'm looking for is a smoother ride, rather than superstiff/bounce, but still want it to be lowered. Any thoughts?
Thanks, -Phillip

Re: Coil overs
Phillip,
I have coil overs on my car and run the Illuminas as far as smoother ride I dont think it will happen if you go to coilovers. Mine rides almost is as hard as it did when the struts were set to 3 with non coilovers when the struts are set to 1 with the coulovers. I believe the main reason for this is that the coils I had to use when going coilovers is much stiffer than the norm.
just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Coil overs
the only thing i could suggest is going with eibach. they have a progressive rate spring that is supposed to maintain a factory ride while helping your car take the turns better when you hit them by stiffening as more pressure is applied. thats about your best shot james
watch out here comes my Z V8 powered and ready to roar

Re: Coil overs
i have the ground control coilover setup on my z and it rides better that with the lowering springs i had before, plus it handles significantly better. i'd look at the coilovers, perhaps using a lighter spring. call ground control and ask. www.ground-control.com
Re: Coil overs
You could also go with the KYB AGX shocks, which are 8 way adjustable in the back and 4 way in the front. I was very happy with the ride of my 95 ZTT when I upgraded to eibach springs and the KYB shocks..
Although I do miss the ability to adjust my shocks from the cockpit.. I need to take some apart and see if I can fix this with something.
