Coil Overs?

Does anyone know any sites where I can check out coil over kits? Has anyone installed coil overs for their 240Z?

Re: Coil Overs?

i am running GC coilovers. what would you like to know?

you can get them from www.strictlyz.com, they're running a special on 240z coilovers for 359 for a set of 4 ($40 cheaper than from ground-control.com), or ground-control.com has a combo with tokiko illuminas for something like 850.

www.outlaw-brakes.com also carries coilovers, and so does www.modern-motorsports.com

How low can you go with GC? where do you cut the tower? do they give specific instructions or do you guess?

thanks

Re: Coil Overs?

you can lower your car quite a bit, but make sure you have camber plates to compensate for the immense negative camber you'll get from the drop. you don't really need to cut the tower if you have 5" sleeves = you need to grind off the spring perch and weld the ring that the sleeve sits on. Instructions are included with the coilovers, and look in the attachment to this post with a scan of one of the instruction sheets. the other one's a lot more detailed and graphical.

I didn't get the attachment for some reason can you send again? Also, did you need to install adjustable control arms and torsion rods?

no, i didn't. they're not required, unless you want hte adjustability for track.

ISNT IT FUNNY HOW A COIL OVER THREADED TUBE LOOKS SUSPICIOUSLY LIKE A THREADED END OF PLUMBING PIPE AND THE TENSION NUT FOR THE SPRING LIKE A STD LOCKING NUT FOT THAT PIPE.
YES IVE SEEN IT DONE A WATER PIPE USED AS A FULL ON COIL OVER SET UP. COIL PERCH CUT OFF THE STRUT AND WELDED TO THE BIG NUT-SCREWED ONTO THE PIPE (WHICH WAS WELDED OVER THE STRUT) WITH A LOCKING NUT UNDER THAT. 80 BUCKS ALL UP FROM YOUR LOCAL PLUMBER.IF NOT CHEAPER.
SOUNDS LIKE CRAP YOU ASK ME??. THIS IS ON A 700 HP 260Z THAT DOES HIGH NINES ON THE 1/4 WITH NOS AND IS ADJUSTED UP FOR THE SLICKS TO DRAG..DOWN TO DRIVE TO WORK.
INGENUITY AGAIN.I LOVE IT!
