BMW 6 in a ZED?
Hi
Does anybody know of a bmw straight 6 hybrid z Ive never heard of one but I think it would be a cool setup. The bmw engine would be a perfect match for an early z. The only obstacle i see is the cost of parts |
Re: BMW 6 in a ZED?
sounds good in theory... but then most engine swaps sound good in theory

Z432,
Go for it! I have not heard of this set up as well. Would be cool to see. I've seen tT's Vg30dETs, skyline engines, V8 infiniti and lexus, and so many other v8 conversions. So maybe you'll be the first one with the conversion;) zya Yuichi ZDriver.com StrictlyZ.com |
Re: BMW 6 in a ZED?
Hi
Does anyone know where. I can get info on the beemer L6 motors. ie. good engines, years, and physical dimensions. Does anyone have any experience with the late 80's to early 90's motors interms of performance and reliability. Thanks:) |
Re: BMW 6 in a ZED?
Hello again
I am aware that some BMW's came with GM sourced Automatics. Does anyone know if I should use the ZF manual, or try to adapt a GM manual. |
I wouldn't do it..
BMW's are great cars until you run into the maintenance bills.
IMHO you would be better off doing a supra 6 hybrid versus a BMW one. Most parts for repairs on the engine will probably cost you more than other cars such as toyota or even a lexus. |
Re: BMW 6 in a ZED?
There are several BMW magazines out there that will tell you about doing engine swaps from earlier to later BMW's. I do not know of any that will tell you anything about swapping over to other cars. It will be a learning expierence, and completely custom. Get ready to fabricate many things and think outside of the box. I had a 633Csi, the setup look really similar to the straight six of the Z. I can tell you that there was an arm and a leg involved in the repair cost, but for the most part it was highly reliable.
