In the continuing Saga of sorting out my recently acquired Z, there is Good news, Good news and then not so good news .

It's main prob is it cuts out/starves at about 4000 rpm. Fuel seems OK, Air is OK..checked the Cat and it's OK.

cutting to the chase ... the Boost Gauge wasn't working so I went to PnP and got a "new" Boost Sensor and plugged it in....Shazzam ! The gauge is working...good news #1.

Gotta drive this thing, see what it says ! Vrooom, WooHooo..
it's making boost ! .. good news #2.

Ack...I can spike it into the RED anytime I want ! ... not so good news.

Well, I checked around and it seems the Wastegate is FROZEN ! I can't move the actuator rod, seems to me I should be able to. I got a screwdriver and pushed on the lever, nopes...won't budge.

Maybe, that's the prob... making too much boost and the popoff is blowing the manifold pressure...hmmm. Whatever, the Wastegate gotta be fixed...the way I drive :)

The PO prolly grannied this Z and never got the boost that high, so the wastegate froze. Well, not going to be that way anymore !

Heh, well I soaked the wastegate lever in WD40 overnight and today detached the actuating rod. Lever turns easy and I can move the rod, just takes more force than I expected. Maybe OK afterall ?

So I hooked up a mechanical vac/boost gauge and taped it to the windsheild and off I go... after warming up of course.

NO problemo !! Z making good boost and barely spiking over 7 PSI. FSM calls for Psubo of about 7.2 PSI, guess I not going to blow the engine afterall :)

This thing making great power till about 4000 rpm, then just goes flat.. still pretty impressive acceleration, with shifting just before...but I want MORE !

I'm just about out of things to check, guess tomorrow I'll rattle the ECU.
