Alternatives to stock Ugly Atenna
Hiya all,
I'm sure most of you owners agree with me that the Antenna on the side of the Z is ugly! I want to get rid of it! But I still want good reception, So i've seen things where you can stick on the interior of the hatch.. Or maybe even one of those weird VW ones? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on this topic?
thanks in advance

Yeah id have to agree. The easiest thing i have found is to use a black masted automatic antenna. I also have a switch on mine so it isnt always up when im listening to my stereo. Just the radio.

PS the VW thing would look cool, but im not sure about functionality
Well while i have it apart i might as well........

Re: Alternatives to stock Ugly Atenna
my 240 had a factory power ant....but i didnt like the top of it showing when it was down...so i made a bracket for it....mounted it below the factory location....shaved the hole...except for a small teardrop shaped "reveil"(bout 1/4"x3/8") then sealed the new hole to the ant....so it still uses the factory drain in the bottom. now it looks shaved....but when im cruising...i can still put it up for reception.

I've plugged the antenna whole with a plastic smoothie plug and plan to run the antenna inside of the upper portion of the Passenger fender(Hidden) with a signal amplifier.. Either that or convert the rear window defroster to an Antenna since I dont drive the car much =)

Re: Alternatives to stock Ugly Atenna
i bought one of those VW style antennas for my 280zx, but i havent installed it yet....i am planning on using the hole where the rear window sprayer is to install the antenna, since the sprayer doesnt work anymore anyway. i had one of those fake ones on my Z before, and it looked pretty cool, so i guess having the real antenna is the best thing for my Z car.
