tell me what you think

duowing 12-17-2008 05:15 PM

Looks like it's in great shape. Heck if it's a good price it'd probably be worth it for the interior alone.

bmwe30 12-17-2008 05:19 PM

it's for 2500 + a 5 hour drive to get it haha
it has a little bit of rust on the rear quarter panels
from what I hear it runs great, the brakes have been totally redone recently
and it has 115000 miles on it

oldschool280 12-17-2008 05:32 PM

i paid 2500 for my rust bucket. that one looks pretty good, i'd buy it for that price

260zturbo 12-17-2008 05:41 PM

looks good beside the mirrors.

bmwe30 12-17-2008 05:42 PM

I like the mirrors, but one is in the wrong place
haha

bmwe30 12-17-2008 05:46 PM

I have a question, what can I do to cut down on the weight, also ASA240z where did you get that grill?
what can I do to get some power out of her?

snwbrderphat540 12-17-2008 06:07 PM

strip the interior gut the doors etc.... these cars are very light as it is. you can also get the smaller 240Z bumpers and tear out all AC and heat accessories. basic stuff. and not to shabby. looks like a dash cap so i bet teh interior isnt great but looks fine to me!!!! might have had some stuff replaced. good project car kinda high price i think though. get it for 1800 or 2k

bmwe30 12-17-2008 06:12 PM

he was wanting 3000, I talked him down to 2500,
the dash is the original dash though,

snwbrderphat540 12-17-2008 06:18 PM

it could be.... hard to tell. those white lines on the door panels should be chrome if you were curious and i bet that steering wheel is gross! haha people put the covers on them cause the originals where down and get gummy its annoying. and thats dumb i sold my show room quality 280Z for 6k all it needed was the seats re-covered to finish the interior to show room and the under body was piss your pants clean with a 5 month old paint job. he is asking to much!!!!!

bmwe30 12-17-2008 06:23 PM

well it is a black pearl, and it only has just over 100k miles,
plus I cant find a decent 280z for anywhere near that price with little to no rust

snwbrderphat540 12-17-2008 06:31 PM

mine had 80-90k original miles..... cant remember for sure. and it WAS a black pearl lol.

SportBikeMike 12-17-2008 06:53 PM

Sounds like a pretty good deal. An S30 with an original uncracked dash is a rarity!

well I'm fine in paying 2500 for this car,
if I keep asking to get it lower he might let it go to someone else

snwbrderphat540 12-17-2008 11:08 PM

your money! just saying.... i think its a bit much... when i bought mine it needed some underbody refreshing all surface rusted on the driveline otherwise prepped PERFECTLY for paint with the near perfect interior with an entire wall full of spare parts and the 80-90k original miles for 1800

260zturbo 12-18-2008 06:03 AM

gonna have to do some major gutting if you wanna cut weight but why? before you get flamed on the question more power please search. plenty of options just depends how deep your pockets are. but i vote for suspension/brakes before you plan to play on a engine. just my .02 cents

bmwe30 12-18-2008 07:39 AM

well I did some research and they only have 160ish horsepower... I just want say 20 ro 40 more to hit the 200 mark,
I already know I'm going to lower it a little bit plus sway bars and shocks right off the bat
the weight thing is because if you loss weight you have a better power to weight ratio,

hey man that was a good find, but that only happens once in a while

snwbrderphat540 12-18-2008 08:54 AM

the car only weighs about 2500lbs as it is. its hard to cut weight anymore and its also why the 160hp feels pretty decent in these cars. just clean up the engine bay for now and do some suspension work and paint so the car will look good and wont start to rot out THEN work on the engine. not much you can do to make the NA create more power i would suggest going turbo at that point

bmwe30 12-18-2008 09:30 AM

ya when I get used to how the car handles I'll go with a mega squirt and turbo,
which hoses do I get rid of on the top of the motor?
2500 lbs isnt bad, how much do the bumpers weigh?

What? Why do you want to remove hoses?

Take them off and weigh them.

bmwe30 12-18-2008 09:40 AM

well I hear that the vaccum hoses on the top are kind of usless, and you can remove them
I know the 280zx's can be cleaned up really well

snwbrderphat540 12-18-2008 09:41 AM

theres alot of those emmision hoses you can clean up, i would suggest getting an N42 manifold though otherwise not even worth cleaning up thos hoses. also, the bumpers only weigh about 30 lbs a piece i would say. but compared to the 240Z or the CF 240Z style ones that weigh like 5lb or less.... it can add up.

NismoPick 12-18-2008 09:41 AM

Just be careful... yanking stuff off just to make things "look pretty" can cause problems and headaches. :D Nissan put them there for a reason.
