260 intake

Can I bolt the N36 260Z intake to my E31 head w/o any problems. Second question. Is it worth my time to do so?

Re: 260 intake

Rusty,

Yup you should be able to bolt it right up, I'm assuming your using round top Su's. You supposedly get 5 hp with a 260Z manifold, I think its a little less, but Scott at Ztherapy says you won't really notice the difference on his video.
Great video to get!

Thanks for the tip. I'm working my way into the L28 setup with the SU's, 260 intake, etc. I'm still not sure on the head to use. N42, E31, P90...

Re: 260 intake

hey rusty
as for the power, norm the 12sec su dude runs the n36 intake manifold. he said it was known to produce as much as 10 hp. i say its worth the time. also, its better to put the thicker spacer pad. the thin pads gave less power for some reason. you would also have to change the intake bolts to the longer ones to compensates for the thicker pads. zya

Re: 260 intake

Rusty,

I would recommend you to bryan little's site, it has all L28 combinations and such, but unfortunately its down, I believe it resets every month and after its gotten so many hits they shut it down for some reason.

If you are going with a normal L28 flat top pistons, I recommend you go for N42, or if not that E31, the P90 will not give you enough compression unless your building a 3.1L I believe. The reason why the E31 is a popular head for some people is because they are involved in racing and can only use stock components meaning if you race a 240Z in a stock class rules its fine to use it, but can't use a N42.

So I'd go for a N42 if you can:)

p.s. there is a computer engine program out there for L series engine's that gives you compression ratios to different combinations of heads blocks, pistons gaskets etc.. if your want me to look for it for you let me know

Re: 260 intake

Thanks for tips! I too like Bryan's web site. Lots of good information, but it can be confusing when your trying to decide a certain build up. BTW, can a 240Z E88 intake fit on a 260z.
Here's the thing. I have an opportunity to purchase a 72 240Z and a 260Z (not sure on the year.) Since I already own a 72 240z with Ztherapy SU's I want to get the 260Z intake, put the SU's and intake from the other 240Z onto the 260Z. Then I can sell the 260Z (hopefully for a profit.) Rob as many parts as possible from the other 240Z and scrap it!
What are your thoughts?
