WTF! .... 240,260z Intake Manifolds

alright guys. heres the dileman.. im aware the 260z's have the WEIRD more better FLOWING intake manifolds that supposdly give u "10-15" more hp.... so .... here's the thing... I OFFICIALLY got mine from a 260z engine on a 260z car with the ghetto ass carbs that we just did the wolrd a favor and dug a whole to burry them on :P j/k ... but ok so the intake manifold model on MINE say N36.... so now we went to the junkyard and we found a 240z that apparently had the same carburators and all the SMOG SHIT that is required on the CALIFORNIA EDITION 240z i think 1973.... so we stripped the intake manifolds and took them off for my COUSIN's 240z..... and now that i noticed i have both of them about to go be sent to the machine polishplace... HIS INTAKE MANIFOLD reads N33

Then we just bought a complete different 240z its a california edition 71 as well with all the smog shit as the 260z engien has it looks IDENTICAL and if i remember correct the intake manifolds readin starts with a N as well.. MY 240z currecntly has the STOCK 240z's su's and manifolds that read E46

So ... just wanted to know wich one was the REAL best flowing intake manifold that give u more balls? cuz from what i had read there was just the 240z's and the 260z's intake manifolds but we have THREE options THREE different manifolds... DILEMA DILEMA...

First of all the "real" best flowing intake is the N36 from the 260z. The reason may lie because the 260z naturally had the larger 2.6 liter engine. While it may be the better flowing intake, according to Z theraphy it real wont make a difference on the street. Now if you have a higher comp, cam, etc etc, then you might feel a difference in pull.

Anyway, If you have a N36 just bolt it on and call it done. Also the 10-15 hp difference is again according to Z theraphy way over rated. the gain is something like 5hp max on a stock engine. Keep in mind the in some spots of the power you lose somepower and gain some. (with the N36).

I did that swap on my '70 and noticed a gain in the mid range. Must be at least 5 hp. Another cheap gain was from a '82 ZX dizzy, starts better, quicker off the line and pulls all the way to 6k rpm.

I have been reading that the 36 intake increased HP up to 10 HP . For over 7 years and have yet seen any real data that proves this . If you can , dyno the car before and then after the intake change . Maybe this will prove of disprove . Just when you put a loud muffler on the car they seem to have better seat of the pants performance. I think that if there is a difference it isn't much. Gary
