Question Turbo Question

Ok I have made the decision to do a 350 swap in my 77 280z but wile I do a little saving ok alot of saving.... Would it be possible to get a little more power from my engine to use a turbo from a 1986 mitsubitshi starion the turbo is brand new but the car kissed a tree or so. Would it be possible for me to plumb this turbo into my engine and run small amounts of boost to my engine. if so anybody got some Ideas how. Such as in what all I would have to do???

man u switch engine from engine huh....u cant really just plump a turbo on. where are u getting the 350 from? turbo dont really do good on a high compression motor. if i rember correctly a decent modify 350 is 10:1. if u do a 350 i would do a twin turbo setup since u will have two exhuat manifolds. :/ but to make life a little easier u could just supercharge it. i got a clip of a 240 with a 350 supercharged...(sorry i forgot the name, props do who it is) but that thing haullllllllssssss ***. b4 u dumb a high hp engine in u need to make sure u got good brakes and good suspension. go to www.hybridz.org they have alot of v8 specs and stuff. make sure u do searches. when u dump a 350 in u need to buy http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html. i forgot who but someone has a kit to install a LS1 another idea for u to crunch on.

I believe that you're talking about Darius' Z. Go onto Hybridz.org. They have everyhting you need to know about swapping in a V8. I have the JTR manual that I can sell to you if you are interested as well as I have no need for it. The manual is something you'll need to walk you through it. It's not a bolt in job. If you're going to turbo it, I would rebuild it with low compression internals and use a WAY bigger turbo than a stock starion turbo or 2 bigger turbos. 2 t3/t4's would perform nicely. The starion turbo would be a waste of time.

ok that didnt come across the way I meant it to I have done alot of reserch of what is required to do the 350 v8 swap. What I meant is that I wanted to plumb the turbo from the starion on to my l28 engine wile I saved up for the required stuff to do the 350 swap. Not put the turbo on the 350. The L28 is a compleatly stock NA engine.

oh sure, you could do that. IT'll still be a lot of work and fabbing though. But if you're up to it, go for it. post pics.
