Question Turbo Idea

I dont understand much about turbos, but in my reserch I found multiple sites saying that the only really diferance between turbo and supercharger is what turns the compressor, so my question is would u still get boost if you took the compressor side of the turbo plumed it to your car and hooked it to the pullys instead of running all the spacetaking exaust parts?????

By the time you overdrive it to get the necessary rpm, the parisitic load would be greater than that of a supercharger.

that sounds a lot like a procharger type kit., thus it would then be a supercharger not a turbo anymore. The idea of FI is you're turning a turbine to shove compressed air into the motor. with a supercharger, the motor turns the compressor (with a pulley) and with a turbo, exhaust gases turn it. A supercharger puts added resistance on your motor and you lose power, but the FI more than makes up for it. With a turbo, it's all free horsepower. you dont' lose any initial power. Everything is gravy.
