Tranny/Rear end.. best setup?
I understand a 3.90 rear end will make a huge difference, and I like the idea ), but I don't want 3,500 rpm @ 65!!! (I'm taking a guess)
My '71 has the stock rear end, and a tranny from a '78. Currently I think its something like 2,700-2,800 rpm @ 65.
My question is, will the Borg Warner 5-Speed give me a taller 5th gear for freeway? Maybe with the 3.9 will it still give me under 3,000 at 65? What about a truck tranny? Has anyone done the math? Are there any web pages out there for it? Thanks!

It's a maxima tranny(valve body mods for the turbo application), flexplate, and torque converter(2500stall). Special driveshaft with servicable u-joints.

The stall is what I was getting at. I thought the stock stall would be somewhere around 2,000. 2,500 is decent. MY dream is something with like a 3,000 - 3,500 stall and a lock up converter. Does that Maxima trans have a lock up? Probably not... but I'm sure its gonna be great man!!! Looking forward to the results!!!
