shot tranny?
 

Whenever I start in first and give it a little juice, I hear this horrible growling/grinding sound coming from the rear of the car(or so it sounds). It is loud as all hell(Sounds like dragging a lot of metal on the ground). It only happens in first, second, third, and reverse when I pour on the accelerator. I am thinking a tranny rebuild or the diff. rebuild. Any opinions? Anyone else have this problem? I can be more specific if I have been too vague.

I would swap both out it could be the pilot bearing in the tranny or the rear diff has just had it. I have a R200 out of a 79 with a 5 speed.

the rear counter shaft berring has come appart. this is a common problem. if it has got that bad i would replace over rebild
