She ran, but not too good

Maybe another simple question, I had my car running, and I am not going to mess with the electrical system for now on but...

My 1977 Datsun 280z ran after I done the electrical problem, she run really ruff, but she ran really smooth rarely. Could this be the old spark plugs? I am really broke, so I am talking this slowly. Why the car run rough, i mean she keep stalling out on idle, and runs smooth and stay flat on idle. :100:

it could be alot of stuff. there is new gas in it right? also try unplugging one by one all the elecrical connections on the motor and spraying them with cleaner and plugging them back in. use electrical cleaner only! i also recomend getting a new cap and rotor for the distributor and new spark plugs and wires.

check and clean ALL of the sensor and connectors on the motor. then we can begin to determine whats wrong...

but what about all that corrosion that requires a wire brush or a pick?

snwbrderphat540 04-20-2008 07:15 PM

no wire brush will get in the connectors you need a tiny exacto knife for scraping and a little pin for re-bending the connector clips. ut sometimes just sprayign them and then plugging them in unplugging them plugging them in again a few times will do the trick

i used to use picks and scrap the contact area clean on both ends.
