My 78 280z is a daily driver. I drove to school this morning and everything ran fine. On the way home was a different story. I got 2/3's of the way home and the car started to lose power, I looked at the battery gauge and it was reporting any loss, and everything else appeared normal. The car gets bursts of power, I can have the throttle down and nothing, then out of nowhere it will rev high and take off down the road, only to sputter seconds later. Also, I can hear a distinct sound coming from the engine now, almost like a sputtering. hard to describe the sound, I want to say that it sounds like no exhaust is making it out, but I had my brother feel and it comes out fine. I am limited on mechanical knowledge, please help me.
BTW I love my Z more than anything, I don't want it to die!!

 

Nope not overheating. Funny thing is I went out and started the car and it has stopped acting like it was, running strong again without dying. Maybe there was a clogged fuel injector? Any input would still be helpful just in case this problem comes up again.
