nice. what are you going to use for EFI management? also, what block did you use and how much did the stroker build cost you? cause im still wanting to do one since i have an extra engine lying around but being in college im a little tight on $$$$ and i hear some high prices and some lows.....

byrneZ 01-27-2008 06:29 PM

snwbrderphat540 01-27-2008 06:32 PM

really.... stock efi think will handle it fine? what injectors are you going to use then?

byrneZ 01-27-2008 06:58 PM

new stock ones. The guy i had build it for me said the better thing to do would be to put a inlarged throttle body in with a cold are intake. he explaind it well he mostly said to have a dependable engine with the most horsepower this would be the way to go.

curious to know, was the engine tested on its 300hp? i dont want to be a ass or anything. just sounds like a hot n/a nothing to out of the ordinary.

byrneZ 01-27-2008 09:49 PM

well i cant say forsher but the guy that builds them he showed me a dyno of his engine which was the same mostly and it was 302hp but im planning on bring it to a dyno after its installed so well see

cant really tell on the picture but is that a hole on your from rail? if so i would be kinda iffy if had a 300hp engine in a car that has holes in its rails. would love some more info on this. just got a free l28 turbo block for my new build. just seeing what all went into your block. thinking of doing a stroker turbo.

i hear stroker turbo's render useless compared to stock bore turbo. plus they use a HUGE over bore for the 89mm pistons so adding boost doesnt sound good to me.

Not "useless" but the weigh in between cost and hp may not be "worth" it to a lot of people.

Look at Jeff P's Turbo stroker: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/280zxt/

Anyway, nice work byrneZ!!!

The rule of thumb is 1 cc for 1 hp. So you should need 300 cc injectors. You will also need a different ecu. Might want to patch up that frame while it's out too. That old 4 speed and R180 diff won't last long. Nice looking engine.

snwbrderphat540 01-28-2008 09:20 AM

280Z had the R200 diff

Not till late '77 with 5 speed.

snwbrderphat540 01-28-2008 01:30 PM

really... thats wierd my dad 75 had one in it. but i was thinking of my 77 when i said that initially.

260zturbo 01-28-2008 01:51 PM

im not really thinking stroker just boring the block out. since i want forge pistons boring out the block seems reasonable. i know a guy with a stroker turbo motor. his name is warren and its TRULY a sick motor.

theramz 01-28-2008 01:51 PM

I'm pretty sure because I have a 6-77 with r180/4speed and a 7-77 with r200 and 5 speed.

Nismo, I've heard that the increased stroke gives a bad rod angle on the power stroke putting extra stress on the block from turbos. That pic shows evidence of that with the wear marks from the piston skirt. I've also read that the stroke kit only adds about 15 hp to a na motor.
