MTX Rear seal RR

I pulled my driveshaft out of the transmission. It slid out with no resistance. I was in the process of overhauling the rear suspension. Last night I lifted the front end to get better access - I planned to mate the driftshaft back into the transmission. When I got under there, I found some transmission oil had leaked out.

That rear seal should be replaceable with the tranny in place right? Can anyone shoot the part number to me?

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Chris

Its a stock 1978. N/A. FSM has no details on my question about R&R in place.

Why would it make a difference if the transmission is still in the car or not? R&R is still the same... Pull out old, tap in new.

I gave you those links because the 280ZX transmission is virtually the same as the 78 280Z... you were asking for the part# no?

And I'm confused... you think the seal needs to be replaced because it leaked gear oil with the drive shaft out? It SHOULD leak with the drive shaft out... there's nothing stopping the gear oil from coming out. :D

A. Just verifying - I assumed it would be straight forward
B. Already found the part number with EFast- but thanks for the link I haven't seen yet.
C. Makes sense. Just panicked a little. It's kinda like the sight of blood to some people when a pool of oil is found.

Thanks. I'll just put it back together and see what happens.
