l26 with p90 head
Hi, just recently i found a really good price on a p90 head. Its in my garage and im going to be sending the cam that came with it to schneider so they can regrind it. I've read some very controversial things about shaving the p90 head for the l26 block, so what is the truth? My goal is 9 or more compression ratio. i want to shave it .080 and put a schneider cam in it. will i have enough valve clearance if i do this and what head gasket should i use? im looking at the 260-70 cam, heres the url
260-70F Datsun L-6 Camshaft As i said earlier, i cant find any for sure stuff after searching so im asking here, any info will help. |
Just for the record it works.
Fly cut .080 P90 head on a l26. |
Did it get shimmed?
The common consent is that machining .080 and greater requires cam tower shims to maintain proper timing. |
Yes i did shim the cam towers as well as extra shims under the valve springs using the longer valves from the 76-78 datsun z's.
