L26 Head wanted

Looking for a rebuildible head for an L26.

I want something I can port, and work on while the car is running, so I can make the swap nice and fast.

Anyone have a good place to get one from?
I put the word out at my local pick and pull.

Thanks.

After I make the swap, I will check out the head that is on the car, and rebuild it and work the head over. If anyone is interested. I will post pictures.

i got my L26 head sitting in my basement if you want. i wouldnt expect much for it but you;d have to pay shipping. the motor ran fine with it but i did a swap so the head was pulled.

more reason to do l28 with a h/c head.

The 260 block has a smaller bore than the 240 and 280 so you might have to notch the cylinders to clear the intake valves of the larger heads.

Was not wanting to go Fuel Injection, but a larger head would be good. I was not sure that a 280 head would bolt on. If I need to notch pistons, I am not sure it's worth it to me.
But, larger ports, a better cam would be nice too. Are there benefits to swapping the cam as well? I don't know the profiles off the top of my head. I can find L28 heads easier than I can the L26. If I can pick one up real cheap, then I could clay it, and see if there would be interferance.

They all bolt up but there isn't an opening for the mechanical pump on the 280 heads. The 260 cars had both so you could upgrade your electric pump. the E88 head for the 260 had smaller quench areas to make it run hotter for smog. You would have to notch the cylinder wall to clear the intake valve on the 280 heads. The best head would be E31 for your engine with no work at all. For more about heads try zhome.com. or atlantic .

Thanks man. I already upgraded my fuel pump. I have a plate blocking the hole already. So that's no bid deal to me.

Thanks for the information. Big help.

Read the links, and I would like to go with the E31 head.

So... Where to locate one... haha

Looks like it will be the hardest for me to find locally.

You can also use a early E88. I don't know if there are any marks to tell them apart from the 260 version unless you find one on a '73. If your patient you can search for a good 280zx engine/head combo and rebuild it as you can then just drop it in. You can run carbs on it too.

For simplicity, time, and money. I will just do the E31.
