L-26 pistons
Hey
I just bought forged pistons for my 260z. Does it matter if I used the orginal rods or should I find new? Also, Will somebody make me feel better about taking project funds out of my 260z and buying a 78 280z 2+2 with rebuilt engine for $500. I should concentrate on one car but I think this is a good deal. |
What's your hp goal for the re-built engine? Forged is quite extreme if you're just planning on JUST a lil more hp... those are racing pistons.
Get your rods magna-flux'd & cross peened by a local machine shop. That will fix any microscopic cracks & make them more rigid. As for the other 280Z for sale... tis an ok deal... tho the 280z 2+2's were quite oogahley (ugly). What would you do w/ it? |
250hp hopefully. But whatever forged pistons, stage 3 cam, 6 in 1 headers, exhaust and S.U carbs take me (maybe triple webbs). I am doing a complete break down on the L-26 now before I start my 280z turbo project. I want my 260z beat my 350z (nismo) in a drag. But I am going to race those little rice burning civics before I do any body work (build their confidence up before the race and destroy after the race) Now with the 280z 2+2 it is ugly but I really wanted the engine out of it. I havent bought it yet

well isnt this the damnest thing. Courtesy parts canceled by order due to back order!! I wasnt really expecting 250hp but whatever I get by doing what I said above, That is why I said "hopefully"
|
How much did you pay for those forged pistons? I'm sure it wasn't cheap! Now you can spend the money on better, more useful upgrades.

I am looking at flat tops on courtesy parts. This maybe better.

I paid $800

Yeah I agree. I am doing a turbo project too. But I may go with stage II cam instead and the other stuff I listed. The $800 I am going to put into the turbo project. My end goal is to have a turbo Z and N/A Z both modified to gain Max HP.
