ignition module?
Does a 73 240z have an ignition module? I am installing a Crane Fireball ignition that came with the 260 motor I just dropped in. The instruction manual for the ignition references Hitachi and Nippondenso ignitition systems. All the electrical parts I see are labled Hitachi but the shop manual I have makes no mention of an ignition module per se.
I tried firing it up anyway and I think I am getting combustion as I smell exhaust but I forgot about the stale gas in the tank so I did not get it running yet. anyone? Thanks, craig |
I've got a 260Z myself and those have transistorized ignition modules located in the passenger's footwell, early models on the firewall and later models on the side kick-panel.
I took a quick look at the 240Z factory service manual and I don't see any evidence of an ignition model. It's "old school" with mechanical points. |
I thought as much but just wanted to make sure I did not miss anything. The original motor was still equipped with points.
Thanks! |
You checked the factory service manual at XenonS30. (a freebie DL) The elec diags would show components and connections. Other cool docs there too. :icon_keel:

The '73 uses a points dizzy in stock form, so no ignition module to speak of.
