Drivers side wiring

Can anyone please help. Replaced my dash on my 72 240z but didn’t take enough pictures of the ignition wiring or harness on the drivers side. Runs, lights and gauges work but saw a little puff of smoke while running and I immediately disconnected the battery

You have a direct short to ground or something kicked on a positive to negative in the harness. See if you can download the wiring diagram. I have it somewhere if you need it. I changed my old fuse block to one from a 90s Nissan and the color code is the same so it was easy and now have mini fuses instead of those old buse fuses. Those original fuse blocks get old and increase load. BTW who did your dash? Looks good

I added a modern fuse block. I kinda figured I did just need to find it. I ordered it from Vintage Dashes and transferred the frame and wiring

when ever I do a project like that I put a piece of masking tape on both connections and just put a number on each end. That way you don't have to follow anything. Just match the numbers. Also back up with lots of photos. That way you avoid catching your car on fire or damaging other components.
