Complete A/C kit for a 260?

I see every other year there, but the '74... What's the dealio?
I have my mobile A/C certification, so I don't care if I get 134a or R12, but a complete kit would be sweet.

if you can get the AC lines im sure you could piece one together with a z31 compressor and custom bracket..

early 260z and the late 240Z's are teh same car, just different motor/carb setup as far as ive seen.

didnt the l26's have a different mounting bracket for the compressor though?

hmmmm..... compared to the well.... idk, the 240's had it on the upper passenger side, the 280zs/zxs had it in the lower driver side, and i never had the AC compressor or piping in my car since AC is for pansies :D so i cant really answer that question.

you say that now, but lately its been 115 in the shad with 40% humidity..

40% huh, its been cold as balls over here, but out summer days are nice upper 90 with more around 80-95% humidity the humidity sucks ass, and ive been to arizona many a times since my cousin/uncle lives out there, we survived just dandy without the AC, in a car. in an SUV though different story, these cars are small and as long as they arent in the sun for hours no AC needed. windows do just fine.

a/c might be for pansies, but running around in many states in this country without same is asking for heat prostration or worse........so, if getting heat prostration is your method of getting attention, then there are problems in your life you need to address...........try driving in arizona in summer--say, august, mid month, with no a/c.........give that aboot 1 month and then say what you say aboot the ned for a/c......also, try driving in the nice wet heat of ther midwest without a/c --on yer way to a big and important job interview and not be able to remove the stink of sweat ferom your cloything--ya wont get the job because a/c is for pansies...............:038:

as far as repair of the a/c goes--there are partas for a/c in most junkyards-----pick and choose when you find the pieces and mebbe you will have a/c----remember, Z's are mainly vacuum based systems----change out your hoses and charge yer system and see if mebbe that isnt what broke it in the first place.........that was my problem with my 50AEz31

Have you ever ridden in full riding gear with a full face helmet and jacket in 120 temps in the middle of summer?
When they say it's 120 out in Phoenix (Yeah that's a temp that happens often here) that is in the shade. Add the sunlight, and you add 20-30 degrees of felt heat to the human body. Add the heat radiating from the in line 4 in my motorcycle, and the heat from the vehicles around you and the asphalt and you make for a pretty hot ride. This is what I do every day. I ride a motorcycle everywhere I go. Have been for a few years now. I am used to it. I deal with the burning fingertips, and the wind burn. I actually close up my helmet and jacket to keep the heat from hurting things like my face.

My truck has no A/C either.

I deal with it just fine.

But, I want to enjoy this Z, and enjoy taking thing like dates, and my best friends children in it. So some A/C would be sweet. A/C is something that I don't normally do. It robs power. I am a power freak.

Thanks for the tips so far. Looks like I might have to retro some stuff in to replace what's missing. That's not a big deal. I was just hoping it was exactly the same in 1975 as it was for the '74 260.

Anyone know the compressor location for the 260? I don't even have the brackets from what I was looking at. :120:

My Z came with A/C from the factory but when I bought the car it came in a box in the back of the car.

I've done some research on this and quite frankly the most efficient deal seems to be to get the Vintage Air Gen II kit and install it yourself.

There's a place in Costa Mesa that will do it for about $2000.00 and the kit itself is about $1200.00 (I think)

I live in Apple Valley, California and went through the entire summer without it and lived but it would be more enjoyable to have AC

The factory unit, at least on my early 1974 260Z was mounted on the driver's side of the engine. There was a parts car up here for sale for $800.00 and it has AC so I took a look since it was all bolted up still.
