Can you identify these carbs?
My Z starts really hard when it's cold with a strong emphasis on the words very hard. Contemplating a sure remedy, I'm considering all the options including having these rebuilt or replaced with a better system including different Z carbs or a Demon carb on a 4-barrel intake.

look like standard SU round top carbs to me..
|
Yep... regular SU Hitachi's.
|
i had a Hitachi on my Datsun 620 pickup and it was the same way really hard to start and when it was cold very rough, idling just was NASTY. bought a 45 DCOE 2 barrel side draft weber. unbelievably better with the upgrade. A ittle pricey but well worth the upgrade to a Weber. Would do it again in a heart beat.

its what usually happens when carbs need to be rebuilt..

I'm not bad with a wrench, has anyone rebuilt these types of carbs on their own and can share their experience?
I have never had any luck rebuilding a Holly carb, at least they didn't seem to be any better after I rebuilt it, I also found it somewhat complicated if I remember correctly, at least the assemble side. |
I bought a rebuild kit for my Hitachi before i bought the Weber. They come with pretty detailed instructions. So i went through the process twice and when i was through it whistled really loud under acceleration :armata_PDT_35: :armata_PDT_35: im 99% sure i put it back together right and still didnt fix my idling problem. Thats what pushed me to buy the Weber.
