thanks.:)

Feel free to use the SEARCH as this has been covered extensively. :D Search for the word STROKER or STROKED.

excuse my friend here...we dont like answering the same question a million times but since your new to the internet and dont know how to search..let me spoon feed you.....LD28 diesel maxima crank, 9mm (preferably) or the 8mm 240z rods (OFCOURSE with arp bolts), and 240sx pistons....and about 5-7k....have fun with the torque but ur gonna miss out on the WHOOO-PIISSSHHHhhh

wtf is a stroker motor and how does it work?

If you think about the word STROKER you might eventually (hopefully) come to the conclusion that it deals w/ the STROKE of the motor... or in other words: the distance the piston / rod travels.

A stroker motor has a longer stroke. Bringing it back to physics class... torque = force x radius. The wider the swing of the crank, the more torque.

How does it work? Like any other gasoline motor. :D

duuurrr.....whats stroke....duuuuuuur

any one know the length on the early 60Z rods? cause ive honestly considered the stroker and if my early 260Z rods would work im doing it. if not, ill be thinking for a while. i never heard anytheing about them. so i assume... no... but i never saw it brought up either.

sticky280zx 02-25-2008 09:04 PM

no not 4-5k chuckle chuckle....theres alot more that goes with a STROKER vs a 4-5k TURBO project i think u got confused...but a stroker is a waste imo...cause the most you'll get is around 300 and ur winding that motor a whoooole lot more than a 300hp turbo motor but if thats what you want i would talk to some guys at robello....a friend of mine had thier motor and tracked it alot...no problems and a really nice motor

snwbrderphat540 02-25-2008 09:28 PM

robello motors also cost like 10k lol

260zturbo 02-25-2008 09:29 PM

260 rods are the same as 280 rods if i recall.

snwbrderphat540 02-25-2008 09:33 PM

they are, i did my research. but w/e F strokers. thats what ive decided.

sticky280zx 03-08-2008 12:02 AM

beautifully put sno.....i mean along with sourcing a shat-ton of parts and having only certain ones you can use....you have to do alot more motorwork which means more $$$$$ which makes it more expensive NISMO :037: and you still only get about 300 when tuned on the other hand you can really just do forged pistons, some headwork, and a truck turbo....provide a lil more fuel and tune a turbo motor and have 400 so which would you rather do?? and sourcing turbo parts is WAYYYY easier and theres alot more interchangable parts/selection vs ONLY a few certain ways on the strokers :fenforcer:

Someday you will learn about sarcasm young chap. :D

hmmmm....what about a turbo stroker motor?

We will just pretend we did not hear that.

JPerkins 03-08-2008 11:11 AM

from that response, my guess is that it won't work.

raythenegr0 03-08-2008 11:17 AM

Theres a few on hybridz.

My favorite is the L31DETT. (yup you read it right)

In fact theres even some guy who made a 3.4 stroker L28, it wasn't turbo though.

NismoPick 03-08-2008 11:26 AM

Turbo stroker... N/A stroker... they've been talked about and compared 4.2billion times on ZDriver alone. :D

If you want a stroker motor, expect to pay $7-$10k... if you want a high powered stroker motor expect to pay $15k.

It will work... but the amount of $$$ you have to put into it doesn't pay off for most people. If you have thousands of dollars that are absolutely burning a hole in your pocket, and have nothing else to spend it on, then yes, build a turbo stroker.

EDIT... I like what Snw said recently: Look at the RB25/26DETT / SR20DET... All turbo motors, VERY few have been stroked. Hum...

snwbrderphat540 03-08-2008 05:06 PM

stroker turbo... theres not turbo motor thats performed better (usually worse actually) that was been stroked, also our stroker motors get a MASSIVE over bore from what ive read that significantly weakens the walls. and the guy that did the stroker motor DETT just loves to waste money, should just went DET non stroker and made an AMAZING motor right there. but meh!

CWHammer 08-04-2008 08:59 AM

LS7TT 'nuff said.

You don't even have the right block to hold up to that kind of power for very long. Weak trans, weak diff, weak budget.

Stroker info

:icon_super: This site has a lot of good info on the stroker motor. But HybridZ.org has a lot of info on both the na and turbo motor. But what should be asked is what do you plan on doing with it? If road racing is in the works, you need to contact the group you are planning to run with and ask for their rule book. The group, I run with does not allow a lot of stuff you would do to it out on the street. If street racing or just driving it is in the plan, you can do about anything you want to it (i.e. supercharger, twin turbo or such). The L-28 block is a good starting point. But if power is your main plan, then it is a whole lot cheaper to do a V-8 build-up. The cost factor is better with the V-8 (about half the price), then it is with the L-28. That is why most guys go with the V-8 in our cars now. Good Luck with the choice you do, Rich.:023:
