Boring Intake

From what I understand the l28 intake is very restrictive so is it possible to bore out my intake at home? If so where do I start, where the throttle body attaches, where the intake and head meet, or both? And will a ka24 throttle body fit a s30? I want a little more power and this seems like the only options on my budget which is very very small. Thank you for help in advance..

look for an Altima KA24DE motor, or Infiniti G20 SR20DE motor. Those are 60mm as well & usually use a linkage ball. Then all you have to do is cut that spring dowel & flip the linkage ball.

Thank you for the info, I looked at the links but am still a bit confused. What is a prenum? Is there a specific line that I need to cut on? Are the runners the 6 pipes that meet the head? And should I pull an intake manifold off a junkyard z for practice? Thank you again

It's a "plenum". The plenum collects the air from the throttle body, and directs it to the intake runners / cylinder head intake ports.

Unless you are a hardcore experienced machinist / TIG welder (doesn't sound like it from the question), I suggest leaving the plenum and intake runners alone, and just bore the intake neck for the 60mm throttle body.

Hit the nail on the head i am inexpirienced haha and thank you for your help, also n42 intake good?

NismoPick 02-29-2012 04:03 PM

"Good" in what way? There's no real advantage other than no webbing.

Ok cool so nothing extra special about it other than lack of webbing? And no webbing means less restriction? Thank you again

The webbing is on the outside, between the runners.
