backfiring in engine compartment under load

I've been having a problem with backfiring in the engine compartment when I put a load on the engine from a stop. This occurs whether the car is cold or hot. It also occasionally happens when I accelerate a low speed. I have changed the plugs, wires and distributor cap. I've also run injector cleaner through the motor and checked to see if all injectors are working.
I'm stumped can anyone help me?

Welcome to Zdriver! :038:

Time to adjust the AFM.... https://www.zdriver.com/forums/240z-280zxt-s30-s130-tech-tips-275/js-how-rebuild-your-afm-15277/

Thanks for the suggestion I will try it and let you know what happens.

check your timing. also, dont just tune the AFM inspect and repair the connector for it cause that is EXACTLY what the car will do if there is bad connection at the afm. best be is to clean ALL the electrical connections

Checked the website very helpful.

I removed AFM and checked all areas. I have less than 40000 on the motor, so the AFM really wasn't too dirty. I wiped it out and got very little dirt. The electrical connector was like new, no corrosion, so I didn't clean the connector just put it back together. The interesting thing is that it almost solved the problem. I now get occasional backfiring now. As I write I've filled the tank with new gas and added Lucas to clean the injectors. I'll let you know if this helps as I have a suspicion that it might be two problems superimposed to look like one problem.
I'll keep you posted

Went back into the AFM cleaned the connectors runs tons better. Occasionally I get a backfire, but I'm still running through the treated gas when I do, I think car will be ok.
Also, if you're going to clean the connectors, there is an easier way than the article you sent me.
If you take some Break Free CLP and lightly coat each prong then connect and disconnect the connectors several times you will remove all the corrosion on the male and female connectors. Next you spray the connectors with brake cleaner this will remove all the Break Free. ( this eliminates the tedious task of scraping with a razor blade or screwdriver)
You could stop at this point and you would have clean connectors, but I like to make sure there is no residue left so I spray one more time with GC Electronics Airjet the same stuff you spray to clean out computers.
This process works every time on connectors. If you are leery, get an old connector that you have lying around and test it on it.

Running ritch eh... hmm does it sputter/stutter when you give it gas from a low speed to a high rev fast? or when you let go of the gas ? just lookign to have a better understanding of your situation. :)
