4bbl conversion

so, im fairly sure my carbs are gonna be shitty since the slides on them were almost frozen in one place. i got that worked out but i still have a feeling they are gonna be crap. also i dont want to balance them and they are the crappy hitachi ones that SUCK. so in IL here there is a guy who is selling an arizona Z car 4barrel manifold for 100 bucks. good deal since it was never opened or used. then sell my T5 tranny get a new 4 barrel holley carb setup. spend the 60 dollars for the low pro filter linkage and retainer adn then INSTALL TIME. its electronic choke, tunes better, dont need to be balanced, and imsure flows much better and more realiable. i came to terms that im not gonna be swapping in any motor of my choice for at least a year. so might as well make the best of my motor now without pooring money into it of coarse. so i searched and all i found about this was us telling thxone not to go from EFI to carb. i wanted opinions from you guys, on what yah think. ever hear anythign about this setup befor? i know all the pro's to it, but havent found any cons yet. and the conversion is very easy and im actually eager to do it. cleans up the engine bay ALOT as well. oh yeah, and anybody got a holley 4 barrel carb with electric choke for sale? not needing a rebuild. lol.

I' ve never used one but the only draw back I see is the distance from the primary and especially the secondaries to the middle cylinders compared to the #1 and #6 cylinders. You will need a low profile air cleaner too.

I talked with a guy from Arizona Z cars and he said their manifold doesn't have the fuel starvation problems that other 4bbl manifolds have. FYI: You can get a bigger Holly Carb, say like a 600cfm if you want, just change the jets on it, you can order whatever jets you like...you can make it a 390cfm if you want, you can have them all the same or you can make the secondaries bigger than the primaries or visa versa, it is up to you. I still think it is a good idea to go carbed on the ZX and may still do so. Like this:

L28E
4bbl AZC intake ported, polished, and ceramic coated
P79: with head work and stage 2 cam; MSA
F54: Cleaned and bored over 1 size
Header: Ceramic coated with 2 1/2 inch exhaust
BW T5
R-200 3.54:1

If I want to go any faster I will get a 1996-98 Cobra and put a Kenn Bell on it.

GO W/ Early SU

I had two previous z cars with the 4bbl conversion on them. The car I have now runs the 4 screw SUs. After running the SUs for a while, I prefer them over the 4bbl set up. Find a set of SUs and throw a rebuild kit in them from ZTherapy. Don't forget to buy the video and the synch tool.

Go buy a 3.8 eaton supercharger from ebay for a 100. bucks, fabricate a simple bracket to bolt it in place of your air conditioning compressor, fabricate a couple of pipes, add a fmu and there ya go! I did it a year ago After being provoked, prodded, and kicked in the *** by my Grand National buddies, Whoaa! Oh, and buy a book on supercharging
